Description and Mission Statement

The University Outreach Center - Houston was established in 1989. The program is designed to help low-income and potential first-generation college students prepare for university-level academic work. Our mission is to assist underrepresented students graduate from high school and matriculate at an institution of higher education.

Program Highlights

The Houston University Outreach staff meets with over 600 participants in 10 Houston Independent School District schools twice monthly.  The Center continues to emphasize the role of the parents with its regular Parent/Student Workshops.  In addition to these activities, the University Outreach staff sponsors a wide variety of programs that are designated to open the door of opportunity to students and their parents.
