Welcome to our main website from which you can link to our five University Outreach Centers: Austin, Dallas, Houston, Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio. The information herein is intended to be useful for students who are enrolled in our program, as well as students, in general.  What is important is that college access information is made available to those who need it.  Please browse to find out what resources we have and return to use them as often as you like.  I extend to you my best wishes in your pursuit of higher education.

“When you enjoy learning, your thirst for knowledge never ends.”
  - Wanda L. Nelson

Purpose

University Outreach began in 1987 as a collaboration between The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University - College Station to increase the number of ethnic minority students in the pipeline for postsecondary education.  When the partnership ended in 2003, The University of Texas – Austin decided to continue the program because of the importance of “closing the gaps” in educational achievement for non-majority Texans.  To this end, the purpose of the University Outreach Centers is to provide college access information to junior high and high school students, enrolled in our target schools, in preparation for higher education.

Mission

Our mission is to assist underrepresented students in grades 8-12 to excel academically, take college entrance exams, graduate high school, complete college admissions and financial aid applications, and enroll at an institution of higher education.  This is accomplished through a variety of interventions that are relevant to the needs of the target students.

Five University Outreach Centers are located throughout the state, in the following cities:  Austin, Dallas, Houston, McAllen, and San Antonio. Contact information for each center is available by clicking on their individual links.
